young-indiaOur call is to young India.
It
is the young who must be the builders of the new world. - not those who accept the competitive
individualism, the capitalism or the materialistic communism of
the West as India's future ideal, not
those who are enslaved to old religious formulas and cannot
believe in the acceptance and transformation of life by the spirit, but all who are free in mind and heart to
accept a completer truth and labour for a greater ideal ... It
is with a confident trust in the spirit that inspires us that we take
our place among the standard-bearers of the new humanity that is
struggling to be born amidst the chaos of a world in dissolution, and
of the future India, the greater India of the rebirth that is to
rejuvenate the mighty outworn body of the ancient Mother.
One of my cherished goals for putting up this website is to collect and make
available online some of those old (pre-1975) concerts by stalwarts which are so
precious and rare to obtain. They are all locked up in the private music
collections of a few individuals, who are not willing to share them with others
for fear of loss.
That's precisely where the Internet helps, isn't it, to house music in an
indestructible but widely shareable form?
Hence I request rasikas to come forward and share with me copies of those
rare concerts so I can put them online to give everybody an oppurtunity to share
the sangItAmR^itaM ! You'll be duly recognized on the website for your
contribution. And rest assured that it will not be used for profit.
For starters, I am looking for the following:
pre-1970 concerts by M. Balamurali Krishna
pre-1975 concerts by Vinjamuri Varadaraja Iyengar, M.D.Ramanathan, GNB,
Oleti, Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu (violin), or their gurus.
You can send your collection to me in several ways:
You can upload music files to my
upload website in mp3 or
realaudio format, at your convenience.
(The site is password-protected; send me email to get the password).
You are also welcome to send me copies of your cassettes/CDs by postal
mail. Please email me and I'll give you my postal address in the U.S. or India.
I'll put them on my website for everybody's benefit soon after receiving them.
